Michigan District of Circle K International

Message from the District Governor:

Sean Nauss

Central Michigan Circle K

Michigan District of Kiwanis!

My name is Sean Nauss and it is my honor to be serving as the 2017-2018 Michigan District of Circle K Governor. I am currently a senior at Central Michigan University studying Sociology. I have been a member of the Kiwanis Family for six years when I started in Key club where I discovered my passion of service and leadership. Kiwanis and the Service Leadership Programs have offered me countless service opportunities and the opportunity to not only grow as a leader but gain many new friends. Circle K is an interesting organization because its members are continually growing in numbers and also showing growth within themselves. This year is going to be full of progress, excitement, and change.

Our goals are lofty but I have confidence in our members who will put in the time and effort in order to meet our goals. However, we will need every branch of Kiwanis on board to achieve them. We are aiming for 500 total members as a district. Last year we had 40.3 hours per member and this year we set our goal to complete 20,500 total service hours. Also, we are striving for 350 Kiwanis Family Relation Events with Kiwanis and the other SLP’s. We are going to need all hands on deck this year to reach our goals. So, are you ready?

Message from the District Administrator:

Lori Stillwell

Kiwanis Club of  Clinton Township

Thanks to the support of Kiwanis clubs throughout the district, the Michigan District of Circle K is continuing to grow in members, clubs, and service.

Circle K International (CKI) members are college students dedicated to the three tenets of service, leadership, and fellowship through membership in the Kiwanis family. CKI clubs are student-led organizations sponsored by a Kiwanis club. Our members value their Kiwanis family, attending meetings and events with their sponsoring Kiwanis, as well as working with local Key Clubs, Builders Clubs, K-Kids, and Aktion Clubs.

CKI members in Michigan perform thousands of hours of service annually, whether that’s by mentoring young children, playing Bingo with nursing home residents, cleaning up a park, or even volunteering at a rabbit sanctuary. Despite the pressures of college coursework, internships, and social obligations, Circle K’ers live their motto every day: “Live to Serve, Love to Serve.”

Currently, active Circle K clubs are chartered at 13 colleges and universities within the Michigan District, with new clubs in the process of opening at several additional schools. To learn more about Circle K in Michigan, please visit our website at www.micirclek.org.
